Retrofitting vs new

Hi. The back of our house has an existing extended section that extends from the kitchen to the sun room that gives around 2 metres of extra space. This ends and where the dining room begins. We were thinking of extending this to take in the full length of the back of the house and making the space open plan inside. This would include changes to the roof to put in velux and large sliding doors to the back of the house.

My question is, which would be easier/cheaper, to retrofit this extension and changes to the existing structure or to knock it down and put in a steel framed extension?
