Would you buy a 2 year old car due for recall?

...or is this the height of stupidity?

BMW 320D (2017) Its a decent price in UK and the dealer informed me it was due for recall due to EGR issue. Spoke to BMW and things have improved with parts and they dont expect to much of a delay and replacement car provided.

Just wanting thoughts. I just cant convince myself to buy something very expensive that's broken when you buy it.

Why doesn't the selling dealer have the recall done by BMW before you buy it?

It's better to get things done when they (the dealer) have not yet got your money!

    Any link to advert

car supermarket, they don't care much, no discount, fixed price etc. Sales manager explained that its very common with their stock and if manufacturer is repairing for free that they don't have any reason to do it themselves. the car supermarkets are a whole different experience to independent dealers. it was the first thing he told me.

    High turnover = High profit.

As said in a later post, they just want ot off the forecourt, it's taking up space and space is money. This time of year in the UK with reg plates changing over there's a huge turnover of stock and they want it moved on. Simple as that.

The dealer is being open about it, so I'd have no worries, providing BMW Ireland will be prepared to look after it.

Well in that case the OP has answered their own question, you cannot really have your cake and eat it. Buy it cheaper as is from a car supermarket and look after the recall yourself when you get home or pay more for one from a franchised dealer that has had the recall done already. It's a 2017 BMW so it should have around 12 months left of the BMW warranty which is valid here.

Do reach out to BMW here and confirm they will honour the recall before you buy.

Careful OP, I've heard stories about that dealer that would not inspire confidence. Make sure to do your research.

If it was me I'd be paying a bit more to get a main dealer car that you know will be 100%.

    And that is a 318d, not a 320d. 40bhp down on the 320d.

car supermarket, they don't care much,[/url]

I'd stop there if I was deciding where to buy.

Not all car Supermarkets are poor. Bought three cars from Motorpoint and they were excellent to deal with.

Sorry to hijack the thread a little.

Stallingrad - did Motorpoint allow you have a RAC or AA inspection carried out before you agreed on the deal?

OP - I've taken in a 3 series a few years ago. I agree with the advice given above. Do your research and make sure you purchase from a reputable dealer.

    Google is your friend!

It was the don't care much bit I was referring to.

I never asked, in each case the cars were low mileage, 8 months old under warranty. They were 100%.
