    Heya folks,
I have a budget of 20/25k and I’ll soon be driving over 40k Kms per year so I was thinking about buying a used car with an efficient petrol engine and fitting a LPG kit on it.
    Would it be worth it?
Any big commuters out there using LPG?
I heard that larger engines (over 2l) do better with LPG, is that right?

Saw a couple of people having LPG kits mounted onto an Outlander PHEV, if that’s possible, I love the idea

depreciation will be a killer with that mileage, would it not be better buying a car already with LPG or diesel? or new / newish electric with long range, depreciation will be a killer again with that mileage over a period of a few years, but the other costs will be minuscule...

if you spend that budget on that mileage a year, youll lose 15k in the first 3 years on depreciation minimum I reckon...

So you think I should spend less overall than 20/25k ?
The LPG conversion regardless of the model would only cost about 1200 and given my mileage would be paid off before the end of the first year.
Otherwise just a used Prius would be a good purchase I guess.

Your 3 priorities if you're gonna be doing that sort of milage are comfort, economy and reliability.... At that sort of money would a hybrid lexus suit you ?, you could still get it lpg converted, drive it for a few years and ditch it...
(I'm assuming they're reliable because it's a toyota hybrid but could be way off)

Yeah Lexus is definitely an option although I would be careful in picking one. My dad owns one and when not on Electrical mode, the engine drinks a lot, close to or over 9l/100km which is way too much for me.
My old petrol 2008 Qashqai runs on 6.1l/100kms (tested it this morning, put a tank full, drove to office and filled tank up again).

Obviously 9l of LPG would not be that bad but I've heard bad experiences LPGing Lexuses.

Unless your getting lpg for 50c a litre, can't see it being worth it

Most stations I see are 80c a litre and usual consumption is 9-10l/100km for a 2.0l petrol etc

Diesel is 1.30c a litre and most yokes can do 5-6l/100km

    Nothing in it then

    Better off going electric

    Something like a 200km e-Golf for €25,000

That will do the equivalent of 1l/100km or €1-€1.50 for 100km on electric

It will pay for itself on fuel, tax, servicing, tolls savings compared to a diesel or lpg @ 40k km per year
