With his knickers down I suppose.

Joking aside, that law is ludicrous. It's been in place 2.5 years now and there's only been a single conviction? Surely that in itself shows that it's nothing but a complete and utter failure? I'll go one better, this law was supposed to be about criminalising the clients and not those directly selling right? And yet only a few months back, two ladies (not exploited/forced/coerced) were arrested for running a 'brothel', simply because they themselves worked out of the same premises, and were jailed for several months because of it, as well as having their money confiscated of course. How long has the law been in place in The North, and how many convictions have been made there?

The voices of those whom this law was "claimed" to try and protect, were completely ignored by the then Minster for Justice, Frances Fitzgerald. Various organisations such as the World Health Organisation spoke out against the introduction of this law. But then that turned out to be absolutely pointless didn't it?

Yeah, I also believe it is a stupid law. It's laughable considering EscortsIreland is still around. I don't buy the whole 'You're paying for the time and whatever happens between 2 consenting adults' line.

Not too expensive a ride in fairness, with the €50-100 he was probably paying, shur wouldn't a night out trying to impress someone cost as much, and no guaranteed ride at the end! I've often spent €200 on a night out trying to impress and still ending up with a sad **** at the end. If there are women willing, I can't see the issue. It would just need to have proper oversight to keep it legal.

Legalise and tax it. Safer for the women involved, help stop trafficking, and remove crime gangs involved.

All eyes on Kursk. Slava Ukraini.

    I see you've done your homework :p

Joking aside, I think that that website is one of the problems, seeing as though it essentially has a monopoly for advertising in Ireland. It has just always baffled me that the opinions and experiences of those directly involved in the industry have always been completely disregarded. How can you legislate for something without taking into account the perspectives of those that the law is directly concerned with?

At the end of the day, what business is it of anyone's what consenting adults get up to behind closed doors? It's the people who assault escorts that need to be targeted, and the people who directly traffic and profit from the exploitation and slavery of innocent people. Everything about the law just screams illogical to me. I mean the mere fact that escorts cannot work together because it automatically constitutes a brothel is just insane! The safety and well-being of both those that willingly choose it and those that are enslaved should be the absolute primary concern, and unfortunately I don't think that that's the case, which is disgusting.

The line is accurate - but the line is also accurate for prostitution.

Everything I don't like is either woke or fascist - possibly both - pick one.

    Send them all to jail.
    All of them.
    Forever.

Politicians can make really bad laws,
the Blasphemy law was totally pointless .
If 2 adults want to have sex for money what harm are they doing anyone.
As long as both people are doing it by choice .
Imagine bringing in a law about taxi regulation without speaking to a
    single taxi driver.
It would be better if prostitution was legal ,
maybe the state could tax it and stop wasting garda time
    arresting prostitutes .
When they should be out there protecting the public .
Publishing his name in a newspaper is worse punishment than a 200 euro fine.

Just keep waiting for the knock at your door OP, if there isn't one then they don't know about you.

Book what if they knock at her door, or what if she pulls out the cuffs and tells under the covers... I mean tells me that she's under cover!
