Private van tax rate

    Hi

Im looking at buying a 8-10yr old transporter or transit size van for personal use. I got an insurance quote Im happy with but wondering how I check the cost of the private tax?

Do I just look up the co2 emissions for said vehicle and go off of that or am I missing anything? Cheers

For eg: I see a 2012 transporter 2.0 is 190 which falls into the 750e bracket - (just about)
Where as a 2009 1.9 transporter falls into the 1200 bracket, would that be correct or is there more to it ?
    Thanks

    It goes on engine cc.

    I.e. pre 2007 car rates.

Can I ask how you got insured on the transporter for personal use? Which insurance provider and what was the cost?

Hi am I right here in the 3 assumptions below?

Crew cabs without separate cargo area, imported from UK are assessed for vrt under the co2 emissions rates and the vehicle will be imported as a private crew cab.

Crew cabs are taxed privately under old cc system regardless of year of manufacture

If the crew cab is taxed as a private vehicle it must still be insured under commercial policy.

Fair number of inconsistencies it seems.
