    Hi ,

Going to the states for two weeks soon .

Just wondering , is it best to exchange cash here ? If so where does the best rates ? An Post ?

Or should I just use my card in the ATMs when I get over there ?

    Thanks for any advice

If you are planning on using your card over there expect a large withdrawal fee. I used the An Post money card on my last trip and paid for nearly everything with that. I also went to the bank and get some money exchanged just in case.

Use Revolut and avoid withdrawn cash. The local charges are high

For across the counter cash, never buy currency from An Post. They set their rate every morning between AIB and BoI. That's even allowing for the 'no commission' BS.

Check AIB and BoI rates on their websites and buy from whoever is offering the better rate. Some credit unions are now doing FX, I believe the service is ultimately provided by FexCo but the rates are pretty poor.

Revolut. Used it in the US no problems.

    Safe, cheap and reliable.

    Tis the future.....
