I have seen a vw transporter camper in the uk (at auction) i believe it was irish now on uk plates .. Is there any way of finding if vrt was refunded when exported, as would not want a shock when bringing it to re register if bid is accepted

I don’t think camper VRT can be refunded? Only passenger cars?

Far as I know there’s no way of finding out.

So in this case vrt would have to be paid for a 2nd time ?

No, if it wasn’t refunded then it wouldn’t be due.
It’s possible that it wasn’t even registered as a camper in Ireland, might just have been as a van. Then you’d need to pay the camper VRT minus €200 that’s already been paid.

A history check MIGHT give you some information.

Nope, it would be the same as making an appointment with a doctor or dentist but not giving them your name.

OK so as soon as I know chris has got my car I will get the reg off him and make VRT appointment. do they need anything else for booking ?

Whats the waiting list like atm ?

If I'm prepared to travel outside my own area should I get an appointment handy enough ?

    thanks

Everyone and their mother is importing cars at the moment due to the potential brexit at the end of the month so appointments are hard to come by no matter which test centre you try. It was the same at the beginning of the year when March 31st was the original date for brexit. You will need to ring them and see if they put you on a waiting list for a cancellation. All documentation needed for the VRT appointment is listed on the nct website.
