    Howth, Portmarnock and a bit further out you'd have Donabate. Brittas bay is less than hour away via m50/m11 and turn left Jack whites pub.

    Portmarnock and Donabate are the best you'll find closest to Dublin.

    burrow rd beach in Sutton is a little gem

    +1 on this, also tends to be a lot quieter than the others mentioned. I dont think a lot of people know about it and even driving along Burrow Road you would never think there is a beach behind the row of houses along the road.

    Burrow beach is dangerous for swimming, fyi. Grand for kitesurfing or a day out and paddling, but very dangerous currents in the water and you won't find locals swimming there.

    any sandy beaches on the southside of dublin that is closer than Brittas bay. Bray has a bit of sand. greystones is as described quiet stoney

    not really - south of Wicklow are the closest properly sandy beaches - Silver Strand, Magheramore and Brittas.
