Are there height/gender requirements to be a Gardai?

That works on the field (Armed Response Unit)? I've heard there are none but why then are there no women or short/thin men in the armed force? Is it like the U.S. Navy where there are no restrictions on height and gender but they have endurance tests which the vast majority of women won't be able to do along with people…
