I put lino down a number of yrs ago in an unused bedroom (house built 1945) . The floor and under lino are black now , I was looking cause got a damp smell. It scraps off the floor a bit with a knife. Is it mold , is it dangerous and anyone know how I can fix or get fixed pls

What kind of material is the floor? I'd be trying to find the water source before trying to repair the floor.

Edit: missed the answer in the thread title. Is it possible there's a burst pipe somewhere?

It's not wet , it's dry , only thing I can think is that when the lino was put down, the man said it didn't need underlay, could it have sweated and made the floor mouldy, don't think there's a water source near that room, plus it's only on floor not walls etc
