2011 Ford Focus mk2 - 4th injector cylinder issue / query

    Hi,
My sister focus broke down a few weeks ago. She had AA to come check it and tow her to garage with suspected injector failure. Garage did diagnostics test which showed the 4 injectors were gone and EGR valve, these were sorted out but she was told that the 4th cylinder is now going. As she has already spent a small fortune she wanted to bring car home without going ahead with cylinder. The car is not fit to be driven now.
Now my sister was on about buying a bigger car for her 2nd baby anyways but was going to use the focus as a trade in to purchase new car now she can't for obvious reasons.
Few questions / queries with regards the cylinder: (note I'm not into cars so knowledge not great)
    1. Can a cylinder be tested to verify Its going? If so, should a garage test this as part of doing diagnostics test etc
    2. Is there such thing as getting a 2nd hand cylinder and simply replacing it?
    3. Would it be expensive to go down this road (part, labour etc.)

Or would be best to cut her losses and scrap it?

A cylinder is part of the engine itself. Can't be swpped out. You're looking at either a replacement engine or a full reconditioning. Either way big money.

They decided to compression test it AFTER putting 4 injectors in.

Thanks very much, wasn't aware of that. Yeah I think she may have sourced an engine from another focus.
Just wondering can a test be carried on a cylinder to determine its in good working order? It'll save the cost getting a new injector thinking its the injector only to find out it was the cylinder

Apologies, not familiar with a compression test? Assuming it's a test you do on a cylinder, and should be done before replacing injectors.
