Thinking of buying a 2011 car, but this history?

    Hi all,

I just wanted your thoughts on this. I'm looking at buying a 2011 car from a garage in Dublin. I've driven it and it drove well, and the car looks great. I just did a history check on it there -
It's a UK import - UK owner had it 5 years 5 months.
It was brought into Ireland and the first Irish owner had it 7 months
The second Irish owner had it 5 months and never even taxed it
The third Irish owner had it 1year and 7 months, and it was untaxed for 2 months during that time.

How does that history sound to you?
    Thanks in advance

The history that matters is write off status and maintenance. I dont care who had the car and if they paid tax.

Irish write off history is patchy at best.

    Link to the ad/seller?

Yeah but it's a uk import.

Yeah but it's a uk import.

But any funniness probably happened after it got to Ireland.

It just strikes me as strange that the car was brought in, only held onto for 7 months, then only held onto for 5 months. The story of the car from that point alone says both Irish owners must have been unhappy with it, apart from the tax issue. Maybe I am reading too much into it.
My current car is an import. The UK owner had it 4 years, the first Irish owner 3 years, and I've had it 3 years. That sort of history would give me confidence in a car.

If it's concerning you, I'd walk away. Unless it's something really rare that won't come up again, just keep looking. Find something that doesn't set off alarm bells in your head.

Sounds like the owner decided to sell it than tax it again.

So they took it off road for two months. Was this two months in the middle of ownership, or near the end? As in; has he only had it taxed now as he intends on selling it?

    It was in the middle.

Thanks for all the feedback from everyone here. My instinct is to give this one a skip.
