I recently bought an 07 Diesel fusion with 200k on it for small money
    Looked well looked after
    Flew through the NCT .
Check engine light came on day or two later brought it to my local guy to
have a look at and do a service before I taxed it and did permanent insurance change.
Said the fault came up as " Frozen Egr "
Cleared the fault but its come back..
I saw guys on youtube using a spray into the engine which was supposed to free up and unclog the valve.
    Does this work ? ,
or is it parts and labour to strip it down and clean
and or replace..any ideas on likely cost for job ,bit tight for money at the moment and insurance are being a bitch about swapping over insurance if not doing a permanent substitution

Definitely a DIY Job with abit of elbow grease, there are many methods you will find online Mr Muscle oven cleaner does a great job some will disagree it harms the metal etc.

What about the cleaners to add to the fuel tank to start with.

How long might it take to clean the valve compared to the spray.
Id expect the fault light might keep coming back for awhile till it cleaned off ?
(can I clear light just by disconnecting battery )

is it possible to do harm by over treating ? or using both products

Trouble is with some cars the amount of cars that you might lose radio codes if removing battery terminal.
With some things it could be possible to over treat hence read instructions.
I would not have to use both at once, but i cant remember if ford resets the fault light when it does its test or external help re diagnostics.
Liquid will always be slower clean than direct action.
