    Hi,

    Renault Fluence 2013.
I have a problem with the passenger side rear indicator bulb.
    Left turn only.

    I indicate to turn left.
    No problem.
    I brake.
The indicator goes to double time and the rear indicator bulb stops working.
I have no problem with the indicator turning left unless I brake..

    Any ideas ??

    Thanks

    Jay

I would imagine it’s an earthing issue or moisture ingress on the left rear light cluster.

Not necessarily. Removing the bulb holder and cleaning the connections is easily a diy job.

The indicator inside cabin going twice as fast means the bulb is not reachable.
Sounds like a loose connection or similar.

It’s only happening when he’s braking though.

    Hmm, yeah maybe moisture.
Is it also when car is stationary?
Turn hazards on and press brake pedal

Bad earth on the rear lamp if it's anything like other cars. Unplug the connector block and see if one of the terminals looks scorched or corroded. Make sure the keys are out of the ignition and try to clean it up with sand paper or a small thin file. And see if you can tighten up the female side of the connection.

    Hi,

    Thanks for all the suggestions,
    Much appreciated.

    To clarify,
The rear passengers indicator blinks as normal, moving or stationary.
Once you brake, moving or stationary, it goes double time.
    No problem on the front.
Once it goes double time, the bulb no longer flashes in the indicator ( Orange ) section,
it drops down to the white section, so it doesn't look like its working at all.

    ???

It’s a bad earth. All the French cars (& some of the Nissan’s) do it with age.

Your rear indicators are earthed through the wiring loom, but when you press the brake pedal the earth for the indicator lamp isn’t earthing properly & is running through the brake to get to earth, or possibly the other way around. If you’re handy find the earth wire in the loom & run a new earth directly off the inside of the car bodywork, anywhere metal will work.

    Fords can do this also....

Recently my megane lost all indicators so had to replace the Hazard light switch which also houses the central locking... €43

    Sorry, what was the fix?

I believe they ( The Garage ) agreed with :

    (a) Your rear indicators are earthed through the wiring loom, but when you press the brake pedal the earth for the indicator lamp isn’t earthing properly & is running through the brake to get to earth, or possibly the other way around. If you’re handy find the earth wire in the loom & run a new earth directly off the inside of the car bodywork, anywhere metal will work.
    (b) and Moisture was the second option,

    First option worked, now sorted.
Again , thanks to all for the advice..
