Missing Amazon package

Never had a problem with Amazon before (that I can remember anyway) or with An Post.

I ordered some things last week and the delivery date was Tuesday. Need them by Friday so I thought “loads of time, Amazon only ever early, never late”.

Off course I jinxed myself with that.

An Post tracking has no record of the number.

I called them late if on late Tuesday and they said they “pre-advises to expect he parcel on Friday but it never showed up.

I have contacted Amazon by phone. Follow up emails told me that An Post had it and to expect delivery soon. Then yesterday Amazon tracking changed the delivery date to next Wednesday. I contacted them again by phone and was told An Post have it. I asked when did An Post accept delivery and was told last Wednesday - which makes no sense because it didn’t leave the Amazon warehouse until Friday. Obviously the agent was talking about when An Post becAme the the carrier on their records and it took several minutes to get him to understand that isn’t the same as An Post taking possession of the parcel.

I got “assurances” that the matter will be looked into and that An Post will be told to deliver it as so as possible. It was like talking to a brick wall - how can they say this when no one seems to know where it is.

The change of delivery date to next Wednesday is the same number of days I was given when I ordered the items. My first thought was that Amazon are sending the items again but that makes no sense - why wouldn’t they tell me that if there was some mix up, and some of the items are marked out of stock as I got the last ones.

Can I assume that since An Post have not up dated the tracking number for six days is because they don’t have it or it is misplaced/ being over looked and that it is now lost?

From my experience, as soon as Amazon ship the item it is assigned a tracking number. If no tracking number is available I would assume that they have not shipped it yet.

    There is a tracking number.

The problem is that either An Post didn’t scan it when they took possession or they never received it at all.

I’m hoping you misread or misunderstood the post - and hope I have made a bags of explaining it after all that time typing it. :p

Spoke to a guy in An Post customer service.

He said it is “possible” they taken possession if it from Amazon but not scanned it yet or sent it on. He didn’t sound like he thought that was the case.

He said if it went through that facility without a scan it would have been scanned elsewhere - even if it was just the delivery guy.

Meanwhile Amazon still claims that they contact An Post and that An Post have confirmed they have it??? The An Post agent says they can’t have confirmed it though. Also Amazon are now saying the delivery window has extended by another 24 hours to next Thursday.

Are Amazon just picking random days? I assume that if they lost it or messed it up that somehow that they would just admit it. They were also very quick to offer a refund - I haven’t said yes because I’d much rather have the stuff and assume that if it does turn up on a scan that it would be flagged to return it to sender.
