Scope ring placement

Has anyone tried mounting a scope with both scope rings forward of the turrets instead of the normal either side? Or is it just not a good idea?

There’s a short rail on the rifle and I can’t mount the scope back far enough to get proper eye relief. The above might work for me but is it advisable?

My guess is the scope might be less securely fixed if the two rings were closely spaced?

It’s becoming obvious that it’s not commonplace, and probably for good reason. The eye end is crying out to get a knock and that’s game over.

Sickened now cos there’s a good scope on the subs bench:(

A Cantilever mount should solve your problem if I understand it correctly.

I have sportsmatch offset mounts on an air rifle and they work great. But don’t think they’ll work in this circumstance. I need a picatinny fitment and height is an issue as standard rings need to be a minimum of 7mm for turret housing clearance.

Any picture of what you currently have. I'd be amazed if there wasnt a solution out there to your problem.

Would a Scout Scope work for you? They have eye reliefs of between 8 and 11 inches so could be mounted further forward than usual.

I don’t think a scout scope would suit me or the rifles intended purpose.

I’ve done a mock up where I’d like the scope mounted. I also want to stay low as possible for cheek weld. Offset mounts would add a lot of height. Blaser rifle. Zeiss scope. I might just remount my old scope.
