Mac Photos Sync with iPhone

    Hi there

Hoping someone can help me out. I have an iPhone and use the Photos programme on my MacBook Air. I am reaching the capacity on my phone - mostly with photos of my children! I have backed up all photos on my phone (I use Photosync app to move them from my phone to my computer) and on the Apple Photos app on a removable hard drive - so I know the older ones are safe. I now want to delete some from my phone. However, when I go into some of the older ones, I can't delete them - it only gives me the option to send them via message, WhatsApp etc (there's only one symbol down the bottom of the photo rather than the usual three Forward/select, Favourite (heart) or Delete (bin)). I presume I, at some point, synced my Photos app on my computer (or Cloud, I'm not sure) with my phone, but I can't for the life of me understand how to get rid of ones with the one symbol. I don't know if they are taking up storage capacity on my phone also.

Can anyone help? Hopefully I've explained the problem properly and that I'm in the correct forum.

    Thanks in advance
