Hey,I'm a single guy in his late 30s looking for a travel buddy as the single supplements are extortionate! Any suggestions that may help, either sites for single travellers or any recommendations would be appreciated & also any experiences from other single travellers good or bad would also be great!

Book a double room, book two peoples names, yours and your sig other. On checking in advise them she/he is on a later flight... they will normally give you both keys and forget about checking... for the duration of your stay just avoid the need to interact with the front desk.

What is that supposed to achieve?

I'm the same, late 30's guy and usually travel alone as most friends have got married etc...

I usually just go to places that dont charge single supplements but thats by booking directly and not a package holiday.....have done a fair bit of travel in Spain that way.

Late 20's here, same as you guys, but I use airbnb and book flights separately.

Suppose if travelling alone I'd prefer to stay somewhere that has a lot of people, more chance to mix &;actually chat to people instead of sitting there alone. I'm not into hostels as most are communal dorms etc. Ideally I'm looking to go on a Sun holiday but just seems next to impossible to get somewhere that is reasonably priced! The joys :)

Travel Department, know a solo traveler who uses them but much older than you so don’t know if it would suit. Still might be worth checking out.

As you did ask for suggestions another idea( maybe too late for this year) is to get involved in a hobby or a club that have an annual trip abroad. Like a golf club or sports club, some do in my community anyway and I know people who’ve been to Spain, Portugal, America etc on these club holidays, skiing as well.

Pretty much same age/situation as OP. Have travelled on my own a decent bit after previously mainly doing so with friends but life goes on and people seetle down and if single you sort of get left behind.

Much prefer hotels to hostel or Airbnb for the same reasons. In England Britannia Hotels actually have single rooms and the price is good value. The hotels ten not to be too modern (hence the single rooms) but I've found them pretty good. I've also stayed in places in Germany where they are kind of a hlf hostel/half hotel with pretty decent single rooms. I like places that are decent (not luxurious) but have a bit of a buzz and the basic facilities as do miss that when travelling alone.

Did a short trip to Lanzarote and couldn't find anywhere suitable really but got the cheapest central regular apartments and worked out well.

I love travelling and always will but sometimes I do miss the company and would be thinking it would be great to have someone there - not to spend the trip with - but just to get something to eat or have a beer with..... and cut the cost!!

Single girl here who likes to get away but again, often have to go solo.
I'm lucky I have friends and family scattered around Ireland/the world and I usually wind up staying in their places.
Obviously I'd do the turn if they want it too but I don't live anywhere glamorous.
Hit up a few old friends for some couch surfing?

Backpacker hostels great fun and good way to meet people in same boat. Most of them are lovely depending where you want to go

Its trips are ‘solo friendly’ but they still charge a single room supplement!

Couch surfing is good if you’re into smoking and casual sex.

Have you your own place OP?
Would you do a house swap?
