Bully 2 - Rockstar

So, more rumours of this being real is coming to the fore. Trusted YouTuber and Bully fanatic, SWEGTA, has 'revealed' that Bully 2 will be coming in the Oct/Nov window in 2020 for current and next gen.

    Bully 2

Don't know how true it is, but if so there could be an announcement soon. Previous rumours suggested a reveal in September 2019 and this now looks likely, if true.

I never actually finished the first one, was thinking about replaying it just to see but don't know if I can due to the graphics. Maybe they'll release an update version of the first one, considering it came out 12 years ago. I know it was up-rendered, but I'd prefer a proper update, akin to Shenmue 1/2. Maybe I'm just being too picky these days!

I never played the first one but know it was very well received. Is there any chance though that a game like this gets released now, without a huge public outcry?

I never finished Bully either but it had nothing to do with the graphics. I thought it looked completely fine but then again I can play things like Doom 1993 and Star Trek: 25th Anniversary without them bothering me one iota. I think I found it just a little bit boring. I really like the fan headcanon that the main character is eventually James Earl Cash after a name change in Manhunt.

I never finished it either, might be time for a purchase on PSN as it regularly goes down to 7 euro in sales. Want to play it even more now with that possible link to Manhunt, it's definitely him! :D

Bully is the only Rockstar game I actually loved. The world was small but full of charm and detail and the atmosphere was spot on. Just a great world to arse about in.

Never finished it first time around. Bought it maybe just over a year ago on PS4 and still just couldn't get into it. I'd still welcome a sequel as it'd be interesting to see what they'd do with it, but the original just felt so clunky and boring at the start.

Never actually got around to play it, kept meaning to buy it over the years, but kept forgetting about it :(

Is the scholarship edition on steam the best one to get? or is there a HD remaster kicking about elsewhere?

There is definitely a 360 version, maybe a PS3 version but as far as I recall it's barely an update on the PS2 version. Steam might be the best bet but that's probably just a basic PS2 port as well.

I loved Bully, finished it a couple of times but it hasn't aged too well. I'd be definitely interested in a sequel tbh.

LOL at the Manhunt links it's so true!!!

Its been dirt cheap on PC too a few times. I played a little over an hour of it from someone game-sharing their library with me. I still have access to it. If anyone's thinking of playing it on PC be sure to check out https://pcgamingwiki.com/wiki/Bully:_Scholarship_Edition in case you have issues or want to optimise the experience.

Probably not but I don't remember anything being particularly bad in the game. Combat was basic punches, no blood, the weapons were kinda slapstick; eggs, stink bombs, spud gun, firecrackers etc.

And if I remember right you were mainly helping the people who were being bullied anyway.

Bully was one of the first Rockstar games I finished, and I thought it's world was amazing, even though small in size, there was a depth to it that I found amazing.

Hopefully Bully 2 will be the same. They could flip it that an upper class, Oxford or Brogues type of chap is transplanted into an inner city, possibly Liberty City, high school. Bonus points if they have Colin Firth voice his globe trotting, always at work, distant father.

Doesn't need to be hyper realistic, I don't need RDR3 with teenage angst.

Mostly by beating the piss out of the bullies.

    Finally makes sense.

I had this on the 360 and it crashed out when I was about 50% through and took my save with it. Was a known bug that Rockstar never bothered their holes fixing, so I never went back to it.

I always thought it'd be a great game to get a sequel, but you know that it's gonna be riddled with micro-transactions and "live service" features as per Take 2's need to have all the money and I'm kinda sick of playing that particular game.

Don't expect a game in the same vein as the original. Rockstar is one of the worst companies at the moment when it comes to micro-transactions and they don't get nearly half the flak EA, Activision and Ubisoft get.

I finished GTAV and then traded it in, the idea of playing it online never appealed to me, as far as im aware, thats the only game they have riddled with microtransactions and its only on the online section. Which you cant really fault them to help cover the costs to sustain the online aspect, they just struck gold in doing so :D

Where the other companies pump out countless unfinished games with microtransactions, so for me anyway thats why they get more flak than rockstar.

Have rockstar put many microtransactions in other games? I havent played RDR2.

Rightly or wrongly, I think Rockstar's commitment to full blooded, highly polished single player narratives buys them a lot of breathing room.

I think it's more down to Take Two rather than Rockstar, and in fairness to Rockstar at least no microtransaction stuff filtered through to the single-player modes of GTAV or RDR2.

GTA V is the most successful media product ever created. It has made all of the money and that's still not enough for these fkers.

And big woop, they didn't include it in the single player. They didn't release any further content for the single player either cause there's not enough money in it.

I give GTA room when it comes to MT's due to the fact that their single player experiences, whether you love them or hate them, are complete. It didn't bother me that GTAV didn't have DLC, I got way more than my monies worth from the main game, and what a main game it was. Same as RDR2, the SP experience was not tarnished with MT's. Don't get into the online Rockstar stuff, too much else to be playing.

I more than got my monies worth with GTAV single player (buying it on both PS3 and PS4). RDR2 on the other hand, that'd be a bit harder to calculate.

Though one thing I would say is that it felt like a lot of the features implemented in the RDR2 single-player were there because they wanted those features in the multiplayer. Things like having to buy consumables because of your cores and keeping weapons/horse in good nick etc, it felt like they were in the SP at a reasonable enough cost but that when it would come to multiplayer, the prices were hugely increased and it'd take more of a grind to pay for them, making you more likely to buy currency.

While Take Two are the real baddies behind it imo, Rockstar can't be completely let off the hook either.

Are they under some obligation to release DLC?

I wouldn't hold too much credence in a YouTuber with "insider Rockstar sources" though, especially one who basically has a Bully dedicated channel.

Playing the original on PS4 & I still enjoy it. Kinda amazed at how brief the missions are in it but the small world is a benefit whereas RDR2 padded out a lot of its length with long trips across the map. It's more enjoyable because of that, even though it's more juvenile in humour than modern Rockstar games I think it still has as much personality as them. I feel the approach Rockstar would take in 2019 would be different from back then as the games now just seem to be more cinematic, far more repetitive and trying to be more than a game. I've also no interest in Casino's, Red Dead Online or shark cards as honestly they are too boring to play competitively.

Loved it on PS2 and picked it up on Steam a few years ago, never lost its charm. I hope if the rumors are true they don't ruin it.

I really hope there is no canon link with Manhunt, both great games (for very different reasons lol)
