I received illness benefit for a year following maternity. No sick pay scheme in work. I handed in my notice & I will receive my annual leave but will anything I received from illness Benefit & maternity affect this?

Illness benefit is taxable so you may have an unexpected tax liability

Are they taxable if it’s your only source of income? I wasn’t partially paid by work, just social welfare.

It's taxable so if you get paid your annual leave then the illness benefit for this year will be added to calculate your total tax liability

So if you've gotten say 5000 in illness benefit and another 10k in annual leave your total is 15k in terms of assessing how much tax you owe this year

I definitely don’t have that much. I only have 375 hours worth. I was on illness benefit last year, not this year. Does that matter?

Easiest way to calculate is total up your illness benefit for this year and how much your annual leave is worth. Then calculate a full year divide by 7 and m multiply by twelve and see what a tax calculator tells you
