Apparently Science backs this up, the first person you fall in love with is your mother and father, so you subconsciously look for people who are similar

Do you know any peoples partners who look like their mother or father?

No, when your mother was young

Nope, wouldn't be my "type" at all. Personality overall no, though she was extremely bright and that attracts me, but that's not exactly an oddball requirement(if hard enough to fill).

I wouldn't be that bothered if they looked like my Mother, not a hope though if they looked like my Father.

    Ohhhh :D
Still wouldn't, even though my Dad was a looker (according to my Mam), personality wise someone like that wouldn't suit me.

The sort of thing that can happen when a family functions a little too well I guess?

I have gone out with two women where I was very similar in personality to their fathers alright. Mostly the complete opposite though and their dads really didn't like me(though their mums did) which might say something?

I have a male cousin* whose oldest daughter married last year.
Her husband could pass for her twin brother, and looks quite like my cousin too.
It's not me who sees it, all of our relatives see it too.
    Uncanny, and a little odd.

    * I really wanna write cousind, for some strange reason.

    Good God no.

That attitude creeps me the fook out.

I don't think its so strange, some people do seem to pair up with people that look like one of their parents or siblings, or people who look like themselves. On a physical level it can ensure that your offspring look like you, as in passing on your physical traits/looks along with genetic.

Not sure about parents as it’s harder to tell with the passing of time, but I know lots of couples that look like siblings.

When I was younger I briefly dated someone who looked like my older brother. It didn't last after I asked my friend if she saw the resemblance and it was the first thing she noticed. Nice guy but it just felt weird.

There is a theory that we are attracted to people who look like us.

I know someone who married her fourth cousin. Very far out genetically but she gets slagged the odd time for it.

There is, not as much how alike we look, but in facial proportions. Heard about that many moons ago and the long term girlfriend at the time was taken by the notion and compared and overlaid face pics of us both and though we couldn't have looked more different on the surface(luckily for her), yep we matched in a scarily similar way as far as facial proportions went.

I wouldn't date someone who looks like my Mum. She's 5 foot nothing, smells of horse**** most of the time, and even when she was 19 she looked like Rose West.

Lovely woman though. Barely stabby at all anymore.

My Dad was very handsome when he was my age. I'd be doing well to get a fella who looks like he did then in all honesty!

I remember when Cheryl Cole married the Fernandez Versini bloke. There was a photo of him put beside her mother and they almost looked like the same person. It was really weird and creepy.
