Going with the Martin/Breslin horse Mr Everest in the first. Didn't look like he got a hard race on Monday so should be fine. Been 2nd twice over hurdles to a couple of decent horses. Also Martin has Share the Honour in the 5.20 which the horse won last year. Only 4lb higher now. Not a great draw but going to chance him given the trainers form right now. GL

Bit of a clusterfúck out there today. I have traditionally avoided 30 runner sprint handicaps down the hill at Goodwood, in fairness they are nothing more than a glorified ( get it ) lottery. Total Pin Jobs.

Furthermore given the week that is in it, I am suffering from the law of diminished marginal returns.... add on to that an ugly looking losing run and things have not been pretty.

I see Daniel Tudhope has gone to Thirsk. Win singles on all of his runners blind. I have even backed the one he runs for Roger Fell, it looks like it has no chance so it can't be ignored. Spencer has gone to Newmarket, both his Simcock entries I have backed.

Cosmos Moon ew in the big hurdle race at Galway.

True Mason and Growl in the Stewards Lottery at Glorious. Fivers ew.

Peach Tree at 14/1 looks overpriced, 3pm Goodwood.

If any of you mad bazzas have tips for Galway please don't be shy, you know who you are.

Forum favourite Camlann goes again in the 5.20 Galway. Ground probably a better suit today than during the week. 16/1 with 5 places in PP has tempted me for a tiny ew.

Bodak ew in 3.25 16s for Jesse.Hasnt been seen since October but recent run expected today with yard in good form.

always good to see two horses without an iota of form to suggest there up to winning this race pull miles clear

It happens all the time. As soon as it looks like it hasn't a hope it needs to be backed. Look at the winner of the big race in Galway ffs. JP will have to go and buy it now.

    riding like a drain

same ride every time pinned to the rail with no where to go and then staying on at the end

3yo's absolutely battered there again by Enbihar giving them all a stone. Pure useless.

Seamie very easy on the runner up. Very easy on him

Something is not right and is definitely amiss. It is too bad to be true.

Ya had no bet thought Manuela De Vega would go close but she had no chance on the winner.

I did think Time Tunnel would be a fair bit shorter in this next race considering the horse that beat her lto won a handicap off 90 earlier in the week.

    Whats up with Dermot Weld?

Not the ballybrit force of old?

Fancy time tunnel in the next but welds form is putting me off.

The increase in prize money over the last few years has made things a lot more competitive. A lot more trainers like Mullins, Elliott etc have their ears pricked at some of the handicaps now.

Lucky lucky man 6.50 at Hamilton is fancied to run well this evening.

6.35 Lingfield, Bay Watch, around 11/8, won't be beaten.

Great White Shark got into lots of traffic trouble turning for home when it looked like the stablemate (backed) had it, funny ride at the end of race.

Ryan Moore had a dire week, I’m beginning to join the doubters, perhaps his confidence is waning

Perhaps?? In my time watching sport I've rarely seen a clearer example of a massive loss of confidence. Doesn't help that O Brien is having a mid summer dip too but Jesus, give the guy a spot of traffic and he'll row in behind it. The South Sea Pearl ride was classic.

If you read the comments on his rides this week, the words not clear run and hampered appear way too frequently.

Ventura Run, Emenience, Vivionn, Mr Tyrrell, Walkinthesand, Jubilson, Old Glory, Seniority, Houtzen, Boy in the bar, South Sea Pearl , Summerghand.

I thought that he was riding much better tactically this week when he came 2nd on Circus Maximus in The Sussex. He gave that horse a good ride but even there he seemed to lack his full trademark power packed driving finish where he's worth an extra 1lb in the pushing out to the line contest.

When I watch Donnacha O'Brien I think there's an uncomplicated rider who has a good pair of hands and rarely gets boxed in, the one flaw being a small lack of oomph when he's pushing out to the line.

If Moore is losing his oomph, what's the point of him? It was fairly insane this week on ITV when they were going on about Moore being universally touted as the best in the world ( the gist of it was that for all of Frankie's brilliance everyone in the world knows that Moore is the best ) #deluded

Dettori is another that's riding a crest on very good horses, he is extremely weak in a finish now obviously because of age but he's not the best around either by a long shot

Season Stats for the UK I am looking for prizemoney stats.

    including prizemoney.

    http://www.thepja.co.uk/championships/flat-jockeys-championship/

It is over for Moore, he needs to retrain or something. Given the opportunities he gets it is simply not good enough. The second place prizemoney doesn't count.

The 3 year olds getting wiped need serious consideration as well.

And when a Japanese horse won a race "Japanese horses are the best in the world".

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,702 ✭✭✭tryfix

And when a Japanese horse won a race "Japanese horses are the best in the world".

    I missed that bit :pac:

I thought it was the height of silliness when the commentators were saying that Deirdre's win in the Nassau would put Japan on the World Stage. As if the Japanese were the Solomon Islanders and Goodwood was the equivalent of Royal Ascot, The Breeder's Cup, or the Arc meeting.

The Glorious part of the Goodwood Festival is more than a little exaggerated.
