Does anyone know at what point of the scale would you start if you were going down a grade? Currently grade 5 looking / thinking about grade 4 job to move home.

Generallyyou'll be moved the point that is closest to your current salary however technically you can start at the bottom but most HR departments will allow people to say where they are salary wise.
