Limerick - new heating system - quote

Looking for a quote for new domestic heating system, looking for thoughts or expressions of interest.

    The current situation:

4 bed detached house north side of Limerick city, built ~1960, approx 140m2.
Wooden suspended subfloors throughout, these will be exposed - i.e. house empty and carpets removed.
Old oil boiler in external (integral to main structure) boilerhouse. Current pipework to rads is mixed partially gunbarrell.

    Ideal solution:
New natural gas combi boiler relocated to attic - gravity fed.

    New pipework throughout

    May seek to retain radiators

    New TRV's throughout

2 Zones, upstairs & downstairs, open to suggestions about remote / phone app control

Removal of existing HW cylinder and installation of small radiator in hotpress

Double sided boiler stove (Existing pireplace, boiler stove sourced by me, blockwork, liner etc by my builder), gas boiler to be turned off via flue stat in boiler stove.

HW supply to upstairs shower run above existing shower in attic space, (not installing gravity shower now)

Electrical supply to attic boiler location done by my electrician, wiring to carry signal from flue stat to gas boiler also.

I believe the existence of headroom for the header tank here might be an issue, and may go for a simple dry stove.

    Work to commence in October.

    Sorry but,
You haven't a clue, you can't have a gravity fed combi boiler, no such thing, in attic.
You can't have a stove containing water without a hotpress cylinder. Linked to the above.
    As for flue stat.??
Call a local reputable plumber or two, and discuss your requirements and ideas with them and they will gladly advise and give quotes.
That's all part of their job. And anything we here is not unusual, what's dangerous is when that advice is ignored.
But fair play for asking here, that's what this forum is for.

    PS
Old radiator are often high water content with no fins.
Low water content radiators with fins give off more heat (circulation) for less heat imput due to lower water content,
    So more economical
But they will also cool down quicker.
Same as boiling a half kettle apposed to a full one, so more economical.
    But ask your plumber that.

When a gas appliance is fitted the installer follows manufacturers instructions which helps protect the installer and home owner in the event of any unforeseen problems.

When you attach a stove to a perfectly good gas heating installation without using a recognized safety proven device like a system link or heat genie you end up with a unique installation that has no paperwork, this risks your insurance, boiler warranty Etc

(As above) What you propose is dangerous as to have the boiler at the highest point gravity fed to accommodate a stove is a non runner as you risk melting the boiler.

Thanks for all that, I think...

Anyway, I get the point about needing a cylinder. I'm now thinking about future proofing and putting a third coil in it if I fit solar.

I was hoping there might have been some local plumbers who were on these boards.

I'm also considering oil, my current setup has a boiler stove and an oil boiler but I only burn about 500l of kerosene a year - most of the heating comes from wood. Is it also true that a condensing boiler is most efficient at low temperatures so the usage pattern would be to set the boiler to heat the house when we typically arrive home or get up and then light the stove.

    Thanks all.
