Call from Eir Broadband - is it a hoax

hello, I got a call from a number 00353949053448 and the Indian lady told me that she was from eir and we wanted to connect me to eir fibre broadband. Now she may have sensed my vulnerability as I really want/need to get fibre and have been looking into it in recent days. It doesn't sound legit to me but want to check it out before dismissing it completely.

    Thanks

Got a call from them yesterday. Guy rabbitted on for ages and kept asking my current speed. When I queried why he couldn’t tell me he had an excuse ready. Funny thing is, I’ve had fibre for ages! Definitely a scam I’m afraid

I'm getting loads of calls from these clowns. They call off loads of different numbers, 353, Castlebar as mentioned above, UK (+44) and some VOIP numbers. They even knew my first name on the call today, which I thought was odd (Data breach?) but I am listed in the phone directory. After I hung up, they called back 3 times off different numbers.

They are VERY convincing and use a lot of waffle to sound legit. They were however unable to tell me my account number.

I would advise anyone with older friends or family with eir to let them know about this scam and just to hang up and or block the number. I must have a hundred numbers blocked at this stage.

What's unacceptable is there's no warning from eir either on their website or a SMS/postal letter that this is going on. I've contacted Comreg and over 2 weeks later no reply......
