My father in law lives up north and spotted a southern region car that was previously a UK car.id say there was slightly of vrt paid on it.
If he bought the car from the southern seller, could he get the full vrt paid on the car 4 years ago??
Does he just by the the car and go to the vet office saying he is Re-registering it up north???
Iam asking because this there is conflicting stories saying you only get the vrt on the value now an some saying you get it all back bar the €500 administration fees..
    Thanks for your help

No, you’d get the VRT in the current OMSP.

    The admin fee is €100

It’s assuming VRT was paid up in full and not deferred/exempted. Sadly I don’t think you can really find out what VRT was paid and how.

Also, keep in mind that if the OMSP is less than €2k, you get nothing.

Colm is right you get the current OMSP rebait(once the omsp is over €2000 and minus the revenue admin fee(€100) and €38 for the Ncts inspection , where does it say you get the full amount ?

Also, is he living in the republic or north?
