Hi all. Im at my absolute wits end here with pain following the extraction of 3 wisdom teeth 8 days ago. I went back to the dentist yesterday and she put a dressing on the sites which gave me some relief for the rest of the day but today Im back to square one with the amount of pain Im in. My brain has turned to complete mush aswell with the amount of painkillers I've consumed over the last week. The pain is not getting any less as each day passes, everyday just feels like groundhog day with the amount of pain I'm going through. The dentist said the pain will go away but Im feeling hopeless.

try anti inflammatories as opposed to painkillers.
also, make sure that the dressing that was put in is still actually there, it may need to be replaced.
dry socket is just one of those things that can happen after any extraction if the clot becomes dislodged and the bone is exposed. it'll feel like an infection but rarely is, just the surface of the bone is irritated, and anti inflammatories should help you cope.

Thanks for the reply. Ive been living off Nurofen and I find it helps calm the pain. But all I want is to know when I will start feeling pain free without the need for painkillers again.

I had to be given oxycontin mine were so bad!

I got 2 done in my dentists even thoigh he recommended i go to hospital.

First one took 2 hours, 15 minutes break then next took 1.5.

Holy ****, 2 days later i was in serious pain, agonising. Ended up on opiods it was so bad.

They were the only drugs that worked.
