Who cuts the hedge?

I live on an estate where there is a wood fence each side, detatched house and then there is a hedge planted both sides. In both instances the hedge is located on the other side of the fence - the neighbours side on both instances...

Who is responsible for cutting the hedge? One neighbour comes and cuts my side too and leaves the clippings from my side on my side. The other neighbour organized someone to cut it in the past and I paid half.

I just want to know is the fence the boundary line or the hedge?

Depends... Usually it will be whatever was there first...

Maybe the hedges originally marked the boundary and a previous owner of your house put the fences up...(in that case you are responsible for your side)

Alternatively the fence was the original boundary and both your neighbours happened to plant a hedge on their side of your fence...(in that case they're responsible all of the hedge)

How old is the estate? Anyone else got the same fences? Anyone else got same type of hedging?
