    Hi.

Has anyone seen this for sale at any of the pumps in Circle K.
I need the higher RON fuel and this is the only product I see that may be available.

As far as I know, the miles plus his has a detergent in it that’s supposedly going to clean your engine to restore power rather than it being higher octane. As far as I think the octane of all their fuel (and pretty much any petrol you get in Ireland) is the same.

Only 95 RON is sold here to my knowledge.

Everywhere is 95RON unfortunately. Just be aware that it is 95RON minimum (so in theory you could get 97!) Pick up a good octane booster would be your best bet

I was doing a bit of research and it seems like there's a miles plus 95 and miles plus 97.
The miles plus 97 is listed on the .ie website but like said above doesn't seem to be available.

I'm racing a tuned bike so if I can't get the higher octane I'll probably just have to get race fuel to be safe

Unfortunately miles plus here is only 95 RON, that said I notice the difference when I use it compared to standard 'miles' fuel, I get about 6% more mpg, so it nearly pays for itself. I'd use 97 RON if it was available since my car is meant to run on 98 RON (although having run the car on Super Unleaded in the UK, the power difference is negligible but it does run a bit smoother for sure and it will go that bit further on a tank).

Can't speak for the petrol, but I do run the miles diesel. I easily do 320km on about €18 (9N3 1.4 TDI 70bhp). No significant performance advantage over other diesels out there, but certainly much smoother.

Miles plus diesel is supposed to be 54 cetane whereas miles is meant to be 51 cetane (like all other diesel sold in this country) so there should be a performance advantage to using it.

If near Blanchardstown, they sell it there. Take the Dublin bound exit on M3 and swing a left.

Miles Plus is what Circle K are advertising as '97'

"Miles Plus" sold in Ireland is 95 RON, it's been discussed many times here.

Notice the ' ' outside of the 97 in my last comment?

    Quick Q'
I know some say diesel from different brands differ
    ie
    Esso
    Texaco
    Budget brands.
But can the same be said for petrol?
Or is it petrol across the board?

I have no idea what you're quoting though. It clearly says "95" on that website, as it does on the pumps.

Petrol and Diesel in is either imported as a finished product, and the fuel companies add their own unique additives, or it is refined from crude at the Whitegate refinery in Cork.

Petrol has to have a minimum of 95ron , but there is nothing saying that it is higher.

A few years ago, when Ethanol was being introduced to petrol, Maxol famously said that their new E5 petrol would be 99.2 ron

    https://web.archive.org/web/20071109102114/http://www.maxol.ie/general-content/e5-questions-answers.html#What%20vehicles%20can%20use%20E5
What is the Octane Rating of E5 compared to ordinary Unleaded

The Octane Rating of Ordinary unleaded ranges from 95.0 to 95.9 – average 95.5. The Octane rating of E5 averages 99.2

With Diesel, Its a minimum of 51Cetane, but again,, thats a minimum, it might be higher, Circle K said in a DM previously that they expect their milesPlus diesel to be 3 cetane numbers higher.
Hi mikeecho, I have a response from the fuel team for you- Originally, Cetane Improver is a refinery (production) additive. This means that this additive is often used at the production level to meet the Diesel EN590 specification of min 51. We only claim Cetane No. min 51 as we have no control over how much additive has been added by the refinery. This additive has a sharp and immediate effect but falls of if you keep adding more, at a certain amount the Cetane Number improvement stops and the CN does not get any higher.
That said, we add Cetane improver not to increase the Cetane number, but to give all the other advantages we claim for miles and milesPLUS diesel. The Cetane improver together with the other specialist additives work together in a balanced combination to provide these premium products with their unique properties. We would expect that on average, the CN will increase by 3 Cetane numbers for milesPlus, but we cannot guarantee this based on the above explanation.

I hope this answers your query. Many thanks

In short, its all the same, but it might be different.
