Wanted rifle for Sika.

Something along the lines of a very little used or even a well used but well looked after rifle that will kill a Sika with one shot.

I'd prefer a light'ish .308, M14 threaded, but if anyone out there has a different powerful bargain I might be interested.

I was thinking of bringing one in from the UK but it would be rude not to ask here first and try and support a fellow Irish man/woman after all the help I have been given from posters here.

I'm not worried about cosmetic flaws, scratches or notches on a rifle once it shoots straight and is not too expensive.

Not the place for discussions. But, altough you have mentioned the 308, looking for a rifle that will kill a 'Sika with one shot" is a fools errant (no insult intended).
I started out my stalking with a .243 and moved up to .270 and 30-06 and can tell you that you are never guaranteed a clean kill regardless of intended shot placement and calibre choice. I have killed all three species of deer here with a .243 (calves, stags [rut /non rut] and females). I have also lost deer using .270 and 30-06 calibres. The .30 cal is one of the better all rounders but be under no illusions many, many deer fell to the 22-250 and equally as many to the .22 Hornet when used in the right circumstances and realistic application.

I understand and appreciate your points cookimonster, maybe I should have worded the post differently but basically the rifle is going to be for deer hunting only so it would need to be powerful enough to fire the heavier grain bullets that are intended for deer.

I'm only looking for a rifle and don't need any of the extras like sights, mod, bipod, sling ect but if someone has a bargain package deal run it by me.
