Noisy diesel engine when cold and in gear

    Hi all,

I recently noticed that my Diesel Peugeot 3008 2013 started making noise when cold but only when the car is in gear and moving. I don't hear any noise when I accelerate while the car is in neutral.

The best way to describe the noise that I hear is "knocking".

The noise disappears as soon as the car is hot (e.g in a few minutes driving).

I don't hear any noise when starting the car.

Any idea what could be the cause?

    Thanks

    Any clues? :)

I'd guess it's the fly wheel.

If it is, it could hold on for ages as it is - is it due a service any time soon? They'd be able to advise when it's in for service.

Worn/ out of spec injectors, possibly bad injector seals, if the engine is knocking/ rattling under load but not when revved at idle.

The car is due a service soon in a main dealer, would they be able to check for this or these kind of checks are not included in the interim service?

Also, the car has only 60k kms in the clock, is it normal to have injectors issues with such low mileage?

Check if the Engine cover is loose or something else is vibrating, chances are it was always noisy when cold just something now could loose and making the sound worse.

After some Googling and looking at videos with the same sound and issue when the engine is cold, it does appear to be a bad injector indeed.

Does anyone knows if checking the injectors would be done as part of the interim service? if not, how much time would it roughly takes (and therefore costs) just to have a look at them to see if they have any issues before repairing/replacing the faulty ones?

    Thanks

Checking injectors is not part of a service, and you'll pay through the nose for injector work at a main dealer. You might be able to get them reconditioned elsewhere.
