Rain

Eyes closed, listening to the symphony created as it strikes against the window. Watching the leaves bob up and down as each drop pelts them. Staring at the mini pools that have been created on the concrete and the sight of each whirl as each individual drop bombards upon it. There's just something so peaceful, so tranquil about it. I love the rain.

So let's see what percentage of people feel the same. I'm guessing somewhere in the 10 to 15 percentile!

I love listening to the rain with the windows open when I'm in bed, find it soothing. I don't mind walking in light rain but not a fan of getting soaked in a downpour.

    What rain?

The odd few showers every now and then are fine!

I am going to say hater because it can ruin a day... and the comfort of hearing rain drops falling when inside does not balance that out.

I prefer when it's not raining but have learned in recent years to embrace it. Instead of staying inside get out and jump in the puddles, sure it's only a drop of water :)

At night when I'm all wrapped up in bed, I love listening to the rain pelting against the window, feeling very fortunate not to be out in it.

I hate walking in it though, particularly when some complete @sshole in a big lorry thinks it's hilarious to drown you as they pass by

If we got plenty of sunshine too I wouldn't mind it, but when you're getting constant grey days and then rain too in the mix it can f*ck right off

When the sun’s causing heat and dust and itchy bleary blue eyes it can just f*ck right off. They try and sell us this myth that it’s smiley :) and happy but I never bought into it myself

I’m in my element right now ;) our element; pissings of rain.

Started raining here the last 10 minutes. Sounds lovely. I even went out and stood in it for a minute. Warm rain is fantastic!

Absolutely love it. Prefer it if it's cold rather than warm humid rain. It just started here a few minutes ago and it's lovely. It's a shame Dublin gets so little.

Just had a game of football and was delighted that there was a bit of drizzle. We wouldn't be the Emerald Isle if it wasny for the rain.

56%?? I'm in shock! And delighted, I thought most of us hated it on this island!

The rain always reminds me of the epic fight I had with Gary Busey on my partners lawn.

    Mizzle and drizzle, can't grizzle.
But heavy rain can be a pain.

Especially in Spain, where it blocks the drain.

Rain is disgusting manky droop, it's almost as bad as having pigions poop on you all the time. It consistently ruins lots of good things

It lovely listening to it hopping off the windows when you're snug and don't have to go out in it.

It's a misery being out in heavy rain.

Rain should fall at night between 2 and 5 am Monday/Wed/Friday.

And one day it will cos we'll live under a geodesic dome and go to the carousel on our 30th birthday.

Persume most of ye are from Dublin, probably drive and use public transport and greet rain like it's a beloved guest star in your lives. Hence why you've got a neutral, even blessedly innocent opinion of the stuff. Are you all insane?

As someone who lives in The West and walks and cycles I can confirm that it is truly horrible stuff. The soothing sounds of its presence on windowpanes is just the thin end of the wedge.

    Ew. Cyclist. Ewww!

.. Do I need to say that I'm joking? 10 years ago not a hope, but we are living in strange times..

And I'm a country boy and me loves me rain! So you presume incorrectly!

A lot of people here obviously don't have grass that needs to be cut.

Adore heavy rain, love the sound of it thumping on the roof. So cosy. Do not like misty damp windy which is what it usually is in ireland though

I see refreshments on the horizon

Ask the same question again in November, when the cold rain is cutting you in half, you wouldn't open your curtains let alone your window.
Summer rain is fine in showers but you can keep that prolonged icy wet wintery sideways rain!

Lashing down outside right now and I’ve got to head out to a study group that I’m supervising in a few minutes...:(

It never F*&^ing stops growing. Then, as soon as I have the chance to mow it, it rains.

Lovely summer rain here in Dublin at the moment. Warm with no breeze and good acoustics.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 933 ✭✭✭Utter Consternation

Being originally from the West i'm used to rain. It's part of life. It just is what it is. Just used to it.

Having lived in Dublin though, you'd swear a shower of rain should be on the fcuking news by the way the Dubs react.

    Fcuking saps.
