Running shoe sizing

I recently started wearing Brooks Adrenaline GTS 19, initially standard D width but they skinned my little toe so sent them back and got 2E width.

I've always worn half a size bigger than my dress shoe size but have found that my toes are stubbing when running downhill with the big toe now being bruised.

Does this mean they're too big or too small? Does anyone wear a full size bigger in running shoes?

Most brands + 1 size, occasionally + half a size for racers for shorter distances and some Adidas are +1.5

I find if you use European sizing it's more accurate. Where you have UK size 10 it might be 44.5, 44 2/3, 45 in Eu sizes depending on the brand

When you say running down hill is it mountain down hill or declines?
Your foot will move forward in down hill position (mountain anyway) so regardless of size you will get some rub.
Running in half size up Brooks gts a good few years now never had an issue

I've always gone up a full size in Brooks - I'm a size 6.5 in normal shoes and wear a 7.5 in my Brooks Adrenalines. No toenail issues at all.
