Parking Sensors active when in neutral and forward gear

In the last week my parking sensors have become active at all times that the electrics in the car are, not merely when reverse is engaged. This can be annoying as cars behind me at lights set off the sensors and passing vehicles can even do so.

The car is a 2011 SEAT Exeo.

A quick Google search found no identical problem.

Does anyone know what the problem is and how easy/expensive it may be to fix?

Are the reverse light of the car constantly on?

Could just be a reverse light switch which is usually bolted to the gearbox.

Cheers, easily enough fixed by a mechanic so?

Your car basically think's its stuck in reverse gear. Should be an easy, and cheap enough switch replacement.

Don't be surprised by any other strange behaviour your car does when this is the case, but you'd want to get it looked at sooner rather than later, and cover the lights well with duct tape if you absolutely have to drive it at night.

Thanks Kevin and Colm. I didn't even think of checking the reverse light until you mentioned it. I'll get it sorted this week.
