Looking to upgrade cars.

Currently driving a 2010 Nissan Pixo 1.0 (I don't expect ye to have heard of it ha) but looking to upgrade to something bigger and just more comfortable.

I currently do about 10,000km a year but I live in a rural part of Ireland so would like a car that is very comfortable for longer trips (3-4 hours to the bigger cities etc) which I plan to do more often if I get a comfortable car.

I'd prefer petrol over Diesel and a 5 door. Price range is €12,000 but would go slightly dearer if the right car became available.

Personally, I love the Ford Fiesta/Focus ST lines but I think they are outside my price range.

Other options I like the look of are Volkswagen Polo, Skoda Fabia and the Kia Rio.

Any advice would be much appreciated.
    Thanks

A Polo, Fabia or Fiesta are still primarily designed for city driving. If you want something for 3 to 4 hour journeys then something like a Focus sized car will be more comfortable.

Thanks for reply. Never considered a Mazda. Are they generally reliable and strong?

    The petrol versions are reliable.

Cheers. Btw, I wouldn't be doing 3-4 hour journeys really often. Roughly once a week and some weeks maybe not at all. The Polo, Fabia and Fiestas might suit that type?

Thought I'd give it a try. Personally 10,000 km a year isn't alot, so you could look for petrol alternatives if they're significantly cheaper.

Gunna bump this one more time with a few options im considering.
Looking for a petrol car with no more than a 1.6 litre.
Have been looking at VW Polo, Seat Ibiza, Kia Rio, Skoda Fabia and Ford Fiesta.

Now as I mentioned, I would like a car that is comfortable for longer journeys (3-4 hours) but it's not like I plan to travel that daily for work.
My new gf lives about three and a half hours from me so I would be doing that distance now and again when I can.

Someone said those cars mentioned would be more for city driving. Do I need something bigger like a Ford Focus etc?
    Thanks

Golf, focus, astra etc would be better

Mondeo, passat, Insignia etc would be better again

There's a range up and above these for long distance comfort but too much of a jump in price for you I think

Look at cars in the first grouping see what you think

I like the Ford Focus. I might look into them. Thanks

    Looking at a 1.2 Skoda Fabia 90BHP.

I know it's probably not ideal for long journeys but it won't be silly journeys so it might be grand.

All cars will suit the journey.... If you're not doing it too often no point in investing in a bigger car.
I fell asleep for a second in my big comfortable motorway cruiser yesterday at motorway speed so maybe I'll downgrade.
Had to pull over in service station to refresh and had a 20 min nap before finishing journey

Yeah, like it might be twice a week at the very most and some weeks none etc. My current car doesn't have power steering so even that will be an improvement.
    Thanks

Are you sure as a 2010 Nissan Pixo might be a small basic car but it should have power steering. Now if it was a 95 Micra that would make sense but not a modern 2010 mass produced car

    Live long and Prosper

    Peace and long life.

Drove 100km a day in one for 3 years, great car and lovely to drive. Did much longer journeys no issue.

I could be wrong. It's the only car I've driven and my father who would know a bit about his cars seems to think its without power steering.

Thanks for the reply. Very tempted by it but still thinking about going for a bigger car. However, I would be stretching my budget further for a car that may not really be needed.

Dublin is 200km away from me so that would be 400km in one day. Now that may only be done once a week so probably no big deal for a Fabia.
