I have some old lights I took off the rear of the car and was wondering if there is a place/method to recycle properly or will I just chuck it in the recycle bin? I'm talking the whole light unit and just the bulbs etc.

Don't have an answer but you can't just throw the whole thing in the recycle bin. Maybe if it was completely disassembled.

They are not recyclable, there's just too many parts that are not recyclable.
If you have to, throw them in the landfill bin.
Better yet, try to flog them on adverts/donedeal to someone who might actually need them.

Thanks. I had some other parts that I successfully sold but no takers for these yet and we've a baby due any day now so the missus wants the stuff out. I might keep them in work while I try sell them instead of chucking them out.

Check with your waste provider but they may be considered electrical waste. I know the one that I use says once it has a wire in it, it's electrical waste.

Maybe you're thinking of "anything with a plug"?
That's WEEE and only for home appliances.

Put them up for free rather than trying to cash them, someone will give them a home while they're planning a project like a DIY trailer or such.

Try eBay if you haven't already, could reach a larger audience if you've only tried DoneDeal or more local places. Working out shipping costs is a bit of a faff but if they're usable and not complete junk, they could be useful to someone.

    So they were working?

I imagine a local scrap yard would take them for free at least.

They're for an Audi A1. Rear lights. There might be some other bits and pieces but all for an Audi A1. Already sold the steering wheel and a pair of front lights.

Yeah fully working as far as I know

I know someone who attached a wire and plug to a gas oven so he could recycle it

I've seen plenty of non home appliances in my local WEEE, That's why I said check with the provider first.
