Replacing Digiweb router

    Hi

I am planning to switch to Digiweb but I would like to use my AsuS AC68U instead of the Fritzbox 7530 since it seems the 5GZ speeds on my Asus are better. I understand that the router needs to support vlan and from googling it seems that the Asus does. But I don't know how easy it is to setup and configure. I have done some searching and it doesnt seem like it is plug and play and at a minimum I will have to do some configuration myself. Does anyone have any experience with this or know of somewhere I can get some basic instructions.

    Thanks

    Dave

Are you on an FTTH? Or an FTTC service?

On FTTH it's a fairly straightforward swap and there are instructions elsewhere in this forum on how to do it.

If on FTTC, you will need to bridge. Digiweb will send out an alternative router already setup should you wish to do that.

You could also continue to use the Fritzbox, switch of the WiFi and use the Asus as a WiFi access point.

I haven't ordered it yet but I can get the 1000 Mbps SIRO FTTH so that is what I planning to order. I currently have the Asus bridged to the Virgin modem but from what you say I can avoid that which would be good. One less box. I didn't see any posts here on the FTTH setup but I'll have another look. Thanks

Hi Cracker, have a few customers doing same, Support team happy to talk you through set up. Vlan tagging is the important feature

    ^ Nice.

It'll be a case of entering credentials and the VID, very easy when you've got a tech on the other end of the line guiding you.

That's great. If I have issues getting the Asus to work do you offer alternative routers to the 7530?

We can pretty much supply any model of fritz modem, some of the higher end ones may come with a supplementary charge.

I have the service installed with the supplied Fritzbox 7530. I am planning to try and swap it out for the Asus. I couldn't find the instructions in the forum. Could you point me to the post.

One question - I did port our landline but haven't bothered setting it up on the Fritzbox. If I bridged from the Fritzbox to the Asus instead of swapping it out could I still setup the landline? I probably won't bother but just curious. My wife was keen to keep the landline for the occasional call from relatives in the US.

This thread is the #1 google search result for "replace digiweb router" and... the instructions are elsewhere 😅

    Anyone got any pointers?

I'm on Digiweb with NBI FTTH. Never used the Fritzbox, have an Asus GT-AX6000. Most Asus routers will look similar to the above.

The PPPoE user/pass (in the WAN section of admin interface) you need to enter will be different for Siro, so I'm sure one of the Digiweb folk here can supply them to you

For the VLAN tagging, you need to go into the LAN section, and then the IPTV tab. Put in 10 for the VID value in the Internet row.

I've got a custom set of DNS servers, which you can ignore above.

Once you've entered your Digiweb+Siro PPPoE user/pass and set the VID, you should be good to go!

Nice one. For future reference I also found connection settings info on pg12 of the fritzbox user guide - I hadnt read as I wasnt planning on using it!

My account info differs slightly from yours despite also being Digiweb NBI connection.

@Digiweb Out of curiosity, what are the PPPoE user/pass? The ones I'm using were provided by the installer on the day, but perhaps I should be using the same login as @jkp ? I'm an NBI customer

I suspect the manual that @jkp is referring to is this:

    , which would predate NBI

Can confirm this works, I had similar configuration working for PureTelecom fiber using username: puretelecom@puretel.ie & password broadband1

@heavydawson, it's a bit late, but I can confirm the configuration you linked also applies to Digiweb NBI connections.

Sorry for the bump but just thought I'd add some info.

I had a client get NBI fibre yesterday. I set it up initially with the credentials in post 10 but it only provided me with a dynamic IP and not the static they were assigned. The digiweb@nga.digiweb.ie login from the PDF in post 12 gave me the static IP.
