Anyone with a few sheep around to graze it out?

It would be an excellent inclusion for Redstart. However those compensatory tillers rarely come to anything for a couple of reasons. Firstly they’re a result of the plant trying to produce seed under difficult conditions. The tillers will either bomb ahead and try to produce an ear, and become small, sickly, ear bearing tillers that would be worthless in your plans. Or secondly, the tillers will come to nothing at the first sight of difficult growing conditions.

Imho, I’d kill them off, and if I wanted barley in the mix, I’d plant barley.

The plan today is run zigzag on it a couple of times and roll in the redstart .fire out 3 bags of 18 6 12 and close the gate.this kind of weather it should take fine

We one passed it into wb stubbles last year. Spraying it off would have done no harm. Volunteers were competing and the first sign of bad weather died off. Whatever the combine leaves behind competes as well.
