Post your Celtic Tiger ads here.

I was only a kid back then but feel very nostalgiac seeing these types of ads as I remember watching them on tv.

I rented a house there for 5 years, this would have been post recession. Place was a ghost estate for a while, a lot of houses had pyrite. The houses on either side of me had to have their foundations ripped up from the inside and built up from the inside again, internal walls replaced etc. While my landlord said that his house was ok, he had a "test" done.

They promoted it as sexy living, when I moved out after buying my own house, the place was far from sexy, anti social behaviour was a constant thing and I believe its even worse now two years later.

Will always have a soft spot for the area, but have never seen such a false advertisement in my life!!

There could be a Post Celtic Tiger ad thread as well.
Every company suddenly promoting 'community', seeing as all the cash was gone.

You know there's a recession when the bank manager is reduced to working on Fair City.

There used be these ads for the Rathdowney Designer Outlet just off the N7 and N8.
It was basically a shopping center with a few units filled in the middle on no where and when they said just off the N7/N8 they were lying.

While not quite an ad. There was a thread previously here about a SherryFizgerald property launch for a small upmarket development on the Howth Road near Killester where Gerry Ryan was hired as MC for the launchparty. The video epitomises the Celtic Tiger including holographic concierge

    Financially all over the shop?
Don't know where your next job is coming from?
Already shot down by 4 different mortgage bureaus?

Well never fear, because the crack AIB "research" team of 2004 would have approved you a place you can now call repossessed.

Ah the memories. They used to do what they called "preferred faculty" loans back then (they still might?) where they gave you €2.5k interest free a year and no repayments until the September after graduation. No proof of a job, repayment capacity or guarantor required.

Looking at boards threads of the era can amusing too. Read a thread where one lad was talking about how his recently-bought house would soon be worth €1,000,000 and scoffing at those who were holding off buying because of the crazy price of properties, like he was some financial genius. I believe he denigrated them as panini-munchers. Ah, 2006.

Artic spas. Had a neighbor put one in. Reckons it cost them the guts of €10k per annum to run. But worth every penny apparently. Muppets.
