Cooker Hood / Extractor Fan Recommendations

    Hi All,

Just had our new kitchen fitted, and we've purchased a new 110cm Rangemaster Induction cooker. Its now time to buy a Cooker Hood/Extractor Fan.
We want to either go with the 'Chimney style hood fan' or the latest types that I've seen in the electrical stores that look like flat screen LED TV's angled at 30 degrees. Not sure what they are officially called, some refer to them as 'Angled Chimney Extractors', others call them 'Wall Mounted' or 'Vertical Hoods'.

What do people reading this recommend we should purchase (or not purchase), based on your own/others experiences. Are the new 'Angled' hoods/fans the way to go, or do they just look good and don't perform as good as the 'Chimney' type hoods.

Budget up to €500, Cooker width is 110cm and extraction duct/pipe will be directly out through the wall it will be mounted on, hole not yet cut/drilled for extraction pipe, so can make it bigger at 6"/150mm if that will help the performance of the fan. The kitchen area is 19ft (L) x 16ft(W) x 7.5' (H).

A colleague of mine, installed a 90cm Rangemaster hood/extractor a few years ago and he was very disappointed with it (poor extraction performance), and recommended that I do not buy any Rangemaster hoods.

So, any good advise will be gladly appreciated.

    Thanks in advance.
