Just got myself a licence (counterbalance & reach)
But realistically what are the chances of me getting a full time job? are companies willing to take on a novice or do you need a minimum amount of years experience for insurance reasons?

    Thanks in advance..

Wouldn’t think so. It will all depend on the situation but many will hire without experience. No insurance issue with experience but most insureso do require that you have a B driving license.

If you’re not fit to drive on the road, they don’t want you on a forklift.

But you could be a crap car driver and excellent forklift driver

*Do many companies do their own forklift test?

Depends on the size of the company, some companies have forklifts going 24/7 others maybe an hour a day.

A B licence is not required to drive a forks unless its on a public road (which you shouldnt do unless its taxed). Insurance companies wouldnt be concerned about one.

Regarding the OP it depends on the company, some forks are going 24/7 others an hour a day so if you want to drive a forks full time apply for jobs in large manaufacturing companies or large distribuition centres.

Just note large companies will expect a 40 foot loaded in X amount of minutes, thats your real test :)

More than 40 forklift drivers and they all require a b driving license required by the insurance company. Not all insurers require that, but many of the larger ones do. The reason is if the driver is banned from the road for drinking, drugs, dangerous driving then they do not want them on a forklift. And none of those drivers ever drive a forklift on the road.
