Weekly football league bet

I have been doing a weekly single or double on football league matches over the last two years. I focus only on League 1 and League 2

First year i done reasonable ok but last year did significantly better.

Generally the bookies price these games up based on form/league position and home advantage

Now this takes a bit of time to study, and in essence you are trying to get better value than the bookies are offering.

You can get some significant info on club forums as to why the bad form, is it morale, the manager, the players aren't good enough, injuries, players coming back in to the team.

First few weeks are tough enough but i'm hoping by September i can get some results. If people are interested i can post my picks up each Friday/early Saturday.

No don't think i'll be picking you 4/1 winners every week and sometimes i'll have two odds on teams in a double.

I don't bet big, no more than €10 or €20 depending on what i fancy

OK so i have done some research for my first weeks double and am recommending the following

Carlisle - Crawley BTTS Generally 5/6

Last 5 meetings between the sides have seen BTS. Also in pre-season both teams have scored plenty and shipped plenty also. The gauge i am getting from their forums is that Carlisle fans aren't holding out too much hope for the season with their strength in depth but some are confident in this weekends performance.

Ehh not much on the Crawley fan site but two people have predicted a 1-1 draw the weekend

Lincoln City - Accrington - Home win generally 9/10

Accrington have never beaten Lincoln away from home on 7 occasions, and while Lincolns pre seasons results were mixed, they played against some good sides like Stoke and Forest whereas Accrington were mixing it against the likes of Sligo and Morecambe but note they did beat Marseille also.

Getting some vibes from Lincolns forum there is quite some optimism for a positive result this weekend. The ASFC forum their fans at best think they'll get or be happy with a draw.

This is week 1 so really tough but hopefully i get off to a good start

I'll be going €20 double would return in the region of €70

not sure if you want people commenting on this thread.

anyway not sure about the first bet seems about right price wise. i know lincoln very well and they really struggled against scunthorpe in a friendly last sat and will want to put it right. cowley destroyed them in the dressing room after. i do like them to win.i know one of the players very well.

the standout price for me is fulham to win away to barnsley at 5/4. barnsley have a new team and could lose another key player before the weekend. to me its a huge price.

    good luck.

Good start. Leyton orient also helped with a treble with both other bets

Great start Stevie, probably on one of the most difficult days as well. I tend to concentrate on league 1 & 2 myself, looking forward to following you this season.

    Week 2

    Bolton-Coventry

This game was almost postponed and Bolton were probably hoping it was. They are a dreadful side and are still at risk of folding Really fancy Coventry @ 1/2 and even -1 @ 11/8

    Oldham -Crewe

Oldham generally concede and Crewe generally score, with Oldham having home advantage i fancy them to score at least once and on this basis backing over 2.5 goals @ Evens looks like a solid bet

Bolton are going to struggle with pretty much an underage team representing them. Wycombe beat them 2 nil last week which might even suggest they might struggle this year.

I already done a similar bet with leyton orient 7/5 and Watford 10/11 to win. Have to admit I like the look of your bet more.

Hard luck today Stevie, I see Coventry had 3 goals disallowed. In fairness to the Bolton kids they are putting up a real fight, I was expecting them to be steamrolled week in week out.

    Week 3

    Carlisle V Mansfield BTTS 4/5

Both teams have scored and conceded 4 in two games this season. Looks a solid bet

    Newport V Plymouth BTTS 4/5

Newport have only been beaten once in 17 games at home and while Plymouth have won both their two games i fancy Newport to edge the game at odds of 13/10 although i feel the safer option for betting purposes is for both teams to score. Over 2.5 @ 11/10 looks like decent value

    Shrewsbury V Rochdale Over 2.5 @ Evens

Looks a solid bet, last 4 meetings between both teams have seen 17 goals

I'd Leicester leeds Sunderland and Mansfield. 3 wins and a 0-0 draw for Mansfield v Stevenage. I think Stevenage have yet to score after 4 games

Lets get back in the saddle.

Three bets i like this week

Swindon win at home to Morecambe 4/7 should have far too much and will be pushing for promotion this season

Southend -Rochdale, this is a strange one. Southend have lost 8 of their last 96 matches and some quuite heavily also but are joint favs for the game. Rochdale look great value for the win but going with three selections we'll keep it safe and go over 2.5 @ 10/11

Crewe - Bradford BTTS @ 10/11 Crewe have been generally performing well at home over the last while and Bradford are unbeaten in their last 8 games scoring at least once in each game

I've Plymouth backed at 13/8 against Northampton. Plymouth in 2nd place and Northampton lost last 3 league games on the bounce.

Right. Let's win a few quid

Fleetwood - Oxford Over 2.5 goals @ Evens

Fleetwood are favs for the game but recently Oxford have come in to a bit of form and have scored 8 goals in their last 3 games but also conceding 6. Although Fleetwood have lost their last two games they are unbeaten in 4 at home, however i feel a first half goal is needed for me to be really confident

Bromley - Chesterfield Over 2.5 goals @ 10/11 Both teams between them this season have been scoring and conceding in a lot of games they have played. Chesterfield are in poor form but i am confident of selection here.

€20 win double returns roughly €77 odd quid

Right, last one for a couple of weeks as i'll be away so i'll try and put a few quid in your pockets to tide you over :)

    Peterborough - Rochdale

Both teams have been in good form over the last few weeks. Previous two meetings between the clubs have produced 8 goals also in which each team have scored. Reading a few online forums apparently Rochdale play an attacking passing style of football and are expected to challenge for play off spots. I was going for over 2.5 initially but i think the safer bet is BTTS @ 3/4

    Southend - Fleetwood Town

Southend have been atrocious this season, home and away. In 3 home games to date they have lost all 3. Scored once and conceded 8 times. They are also managerless. Everything points to an easy Fleetwood win and i'll be backing them @ Even money to do just that.

I fancy the top two bets but i'll throw a third one in if it also takes your fancy

    Chesterfield - Torquay

Chesterfield are an absolute bag of shi!e this season and their fans agree with this. However they are at home against a Torquay side that score and concede plenty of goals. Chesterfield have scored in 9 or their last 10 games, although they haven't one any of those. The safe bet here is Over 2.5 goals @ 2/3

€20 will give you roughly €115 back for the 3 bets, but stick with top two if you so wish.

Best of luck if you get on

    Stevie when are you back.

My bank account is missing you

OK Back from personal & business travels to this grim kip :D

    Portsmouth - Oxford

Portsmouth have only been beaten once in their last 12 league games and while their last 3 home games have only produced 2 goals, previous to that they generally were involved in games with goals. Oxford's last 6 games have all produced over 2.5 goals

    Over 2.5 goals @ 6/7

    Scunthorpe - Stevenage

Scunthorpe are on a run of good form after a terrible spell and are unbeaten in their last 5 games. Stevenage have been terrible all season and have yet to win a game away from home. Confident pick

    Scunthorpe to win @ 9/10
