Geothermal/ground source heat pump

    We are getting a company to install this, however, do we also need a plumber? I thought we would have for sinks, toilets, etc. However I was talking to one plumber and he said he wouldn't be interested if someone else was doing some of the work (ie. The company installing the heat pump!) 😌
    Can anyone advise?! I'm an ignoramus when it comes to stuff like this 🙈

    There is plumbing involved in installing the GSHP.

    I used the plumber that was recommended by the HP company as I wanted to have one person to complain to if there were any plumbing issues anywhere in the house and they gave a good price so it was a win-win.

    well your average plumber will know JS about the proper sizing and laying of the GS loops and it will probably void your warranty

    I chose a geothermal as well, the company drilled the well, installed the HP and did the UFH. I rang the local plumber that my parents use and asked him to quote for the domestic plumbing bits around everything, worth 5-6k. He had no interest once he wasn't putting in the heating system. Met him when he was hammered drunk one night and he starts abusing me for not letting him do the whole lot, claimed he could put in any system, geothermal, A2W etc, sure I only laughed along with him. I have no doubt he'd go at it and have no clue what he was doing and would make a balls of it. HPs are for specialists and the likes of this lad will leave horror stories behind him.
