We have recently moved into our new home and went to sign up with another supplier. There were IT issues and between the jogs and reels, the account was never opened unbeknownst to us.

Fasr forward 4 weeks and the esb have just cut off the electricity dispite someone in the house having a disability. We've been advised that the only way to get this reconnected is for electric ireland to notify the esb. We were given no prior notification that the esb was to be disconnected. Now the electric ireland systems are down and though we already have an avcount with electric irelabd, theyre unablunable to give me a time frame on when the esb will be turned on.

This service is nuts! Fast enough to have the power disconnected but unable to give a time frame for reconnection!

    Hi whampiri,

    Sorry to read it.

If an electricity account is closed, the electricity company that is supplying the property allows time for the next registration.

After a certain point, the supply is disconnected due to vacant premises. A letter is posted to "The occupier" in advance of this. If there is no registration, the company liaises with ESB Networks to disconnect the supply, as they have no information regarding anyone new registering.

It is not possible to give a time-frame with regard to when reconnection can take place, because this is an ESB Networks process. All the billing company can do is send the message to ESB Networks to carry out the reconnection as soon as possible.

If you private message us the meter point reference number (MPRN), address, your name and telephone number, we can look into the details further as soon as possible.

We are here on Boards.ie and our other social media channels until 6pm.

    Thanks,
    Una
