8K-ish petrol family car

    Hi

    Our Ford Mondeo 1.6 Petrol 07 210KMS on it , NCT OUT has reached end of life basically the engine is knocking bushings are gone and a couple of other issues. Mechanic recommended we cut our losses at this stage

    We are 2 car family, 2nd car is 08 Grand Picasso 1.6HDI and this has been super reliable.
    The second car 90% of its driving is 20kms a week so doesnt really get much use. Odd time would be used to go to Dublin from Cork and back for work but can get train for this also.
    I'm ruling out an electric car for the moment as I don't do the mileage really to justify the savings I'd make on fuel costs.

    Anyway I have in and around 8k budget with whatever I get for the Mondeo probably nothing.
    My main criteria would be reliability. On occasion now very rarely the 3 kids would need to go in the car. Age's 7 and twins who are 5. The 7 year old can ride up front in a full back booster. With an adult in the back with the twins.

    I was looking at the following
    Skoda Fabia
    Seat Ibiza
    Renault Clio.

    Can I get peoples recommendations or alternatives.
