    1. I have a shared sewer connection with my neighbours and want my own waste connection. What do I do?

If you are interested in applying for a new waste water connection, you can apply here

    2. My toilet cistern won’t fill up, but all my other taps are fine. Can you help?

If only your toilet cistern is affected, and your cold kitchen tap still has supply, this indicates that you may have an internal plumbing issue.
As this falls outside our remit to repair, we recommend you contact a qualified plumber who will be able to investigate this for you.

    3. How big are the pipes used when you get a new connection to the water main?

Pipes used during new connection works are generally 25mm. You can see more on our new connections process and charges here.

    4. I’m going away for a while and want to turn off my supply. Is this possible?

n order to turn off your supply from the public mains to your property, you can switch your supply off using the outside stop valve located in your meter box. We only recommend that you do this where safe to do so.

If there is a blue handle inside the meter box, it must be pressed down until it clicks. To turn off the water from the mains supply, turn the valve handle one quarter of a rotation clockwise. To turn on the water supply turn the valve handle one quarter of a rotation anti-clockwise.

Once the works are complete you can turn back on your supply, as the outside stop valve is on publicly accessible land.

    5. I want to find our more information on your First Fix Free scheme.

The First Fix Free scheme aims to help reduce the amount of water wasted through leaks on customers' properties. The scheme has saved over 89 million litres of water every day (enough for the daily supply of the City and County of Galway) from the repair of almost 63,000 leaks.

You can read more on this, and check if you qualify for a first fix free repair, here
