    Hi,

My Ma currently has an iPhone 5 that's she's looking to replace with something of similar size, unfortunately Apple don't make anything that size anymore and the SE is a bit out of date, can anyone recommend a good spec android phone of similar size? Most decent phones these days seem to have at least 5.5 inch which is a bit big for her. Thanks

the bezels around the screen have reduced on phones over the last few years meaning that overall dimensions are smaller for a larger screen size.

screen sizes under 5.5 inches aren't really being made anymore

    pixel 3a
    mi 9 se

two decent small phones (by today's standards)

but to be honest the mi a2 lite is pretty small and great value and would probably meet your mum's needs.

the camera is not great in low light but for it's fine in daytime.

it is also very well built and runs smooth

has stock android so no bloat apps so probably easier for less tech savvy people

144 euro . 10 days delivery. no customs issues.

Nothing wrong with an SE probably one or the best phones apple made, going to a larger phone like the 6,7,8 won't be a very big leap size wise if she sticks with iPhone. If she's used to the interface I'd leave well enough alone and get her another iPhone. Regardless of an android being better specced and cheaper unless she's tech savvy.

They are still decent spec in 2019.

I agree SE is still a decent phone.

I just got the A2 above and its great.
So expect the lite is great
However if your mum is an apple fan then suggest you stick with that for her, unless she’s used android in the past or is happy with it.

my mum changed from an iphone se to an a2 lite there recently and had no issues tbh

and she's useless with technology :)

the stock android is quite clean and uncluttered

and the fantastic battery life of the a2 lite must be mentioned also

Thanks a million for all the advice, my mum is an absolute technophobe so the SE would be ideal so she could stay with ios, I just thought the spec was a bit dated because it's three since it's release and I know from experience that iPhones become incredibly difficult to use when they age because of ios updates and newer app versions. I'll look at the MI A2 lite I actually have the regular A2 and am very happy with it

Mi9 SE and A2 Lite are around the same size, the Mi9 SE is a great little phone, got herself one and she's well chuffed. Came from a P8 lite so nice upgrade, both only 20mm ish bigger than the iPhones as well.

The Pixel 3A is by modern standards pretty compact and has a great camera.

new iphone SE due in spring 2020

"The new version is expected to launch in the spring of 2020 and may have a 4.7-inch screen just like the iPhone 8. It'll reportedly run on the same processor as the iPhone 11, Apple's A13 Bionic chip, and could cost $400."
