Coolant leak 05 Focus petrol

Pulled in this evening after a short trip and car sounded weird . Like the new diesels so when cooking down
Opened bonnet and there was next to no coolant left . Temperature gauge was normal though .
Then I started thinking ...........when i filed with petrol last Tuesday I thought the clutch felt slippy. As I think I had felt a few days before too.
I put it down to oil on the forecourt

Checked around the clutch and the carpet was wet
Filled coolant reservoir with water after an hour and drove the 1km home
Coolant level had dropped all the way to top of bottom hose

So obviously a faster leak than I hoped for :(
Will be changing the car in a few months but for various reasons can’t just yet
Is this likely to be an expensive fix?
Sod’s law I’m also now too far away from the mechanic who has serviced it for the last 12 years

Best bring it to the mechanic if you do not know what to look for. Leak could be any where... radiator, coolant pipe, water pump, thermostat housing. Pray it is not a head gasket anyway but you would most likely would have steam bellowing from bonnet. Not fully sure on that as it never happened me or ever seen it happening.

had this about 3 weeks ago .. turns out the coolant bottle had a miniscule crack in it .. only visible when pressure was applied . New bottle 40 euro .. could be this

Was your clutch wet though ?
Would be great if that’s all it is
But because the clutch is wet a mechanic friend of mine told me over the phone last night it is likely to be the heater matrix inside the car . That’s an expensive job I think :(

Cooling system and clutch issues are unlikely to be related.

I think the coolant is leaking down into the clutch area
It seems to much of a coincidence that it has occurred at exactly same time ?

thankfully no .... how i noticed my issue was the fan was still running after vehicle shutdown ...closer inspection i noticed no coolant .. toped it up tested for gasket failure and got lucky , mechanic said they water bottles have a tendancy to go brittle .. once it wasreplaced no further issues
