Still no Fibre in Tallaght?

It's a joke. I've tried inquiring but was fobbed off. Does the fibrerollout declare itself accurate or is it just a guess?

I'm in the circle next to a green box (within 100 metres) and yet nothing.


checking online with Vodafone/Eir it's saying I can get speeds "up to 7mb".


What gives? Is this ever going to change or am I stuffed? Currently using Virgin Media who are dire and charge a fortune for the privilege. So frustrating.

Take the post code of a neighbour and see what it says for them.

I tried a few random address in the circle and for 70/20 or higher for most.

It is a guess. The shaded area is indicative coverage but the line into your premises may not be connected to the cabinet closest to you.

eir are meant to be embarking on a FTTH build targeting urban areas so it should eventually change but you could be waiting several years for that depending on how soon they plan on cabling your area.

I find the online testers hit or miss. I was recently signing up to vodafone and if I hit refresh it would jump from 9mb to 90mb.

WARNING - I'm not far from the location on that map. I actually signed up with Vodafone and after three weeks was told I'd be another fortnight before I'd be hooked up. I was told a date and after a few days I rang them just to confirm the date was still accurate only to be told there was no space in the Eir exchange and they couldn't tell when I'd be hooked up. Had to cancel. Only that I rang them I found out. If you're going with anyone but Virgin keep on at them so the same doesn't happen to you.

If you think Virgin Media are dire you don't wanna go to Eir(or any companies that use their network).

It is a joke as you say, I live in Tallaght and I switched to Eir and then to Pure Telecom but my speeds are poor and constant dropouts. I was originally with Virgin but went very expensive so switched. It's a problem with the line but Open Eir are useless.

I'll likely go back to Virgin because who knows when FTTH will be rolled out, seems rural areas are getting preference.

Tried a few neighbours and it's the same. Up to 7mb speed. Seriously frustrating. Virgin are a lot more expensive.
