Can't immediately think of any major absentees from that list, though I'm sure some will come. A respectable list otherwise, and reflective of the online presence -, though why Schitts Creek is in the comedy list is beyond me. Like, it's ok, but hardly awards worthy.

The Handmaid’s Tale is absent, although I think that’s because of eligibility issues due to when it’s airing. Nothing to do with the fact that season 3 is sub par, nope...

Never watched the Handmaid's Tale but I get the impression its star has declined rapidly since descending into misery porn. Suppose it's reflecting in the awards...

Have to say I'm very happy to see Joey King nominated for best actress. I saw the documentary of the person she is portraying and she nailed it.

Patricia Arquette could easily have been nominated for her role in The Act to but they went with Dannemora instead which she is also great in.

Hope Laura Linney wins for Ozark, she's been brilliant especially the second series

Phoebe Waller-Bridge must be very happy

Nothing surprising but 'Game of Thrones' definitely doesn't deserve its presence in the major awards for the eight season. Best Drama Series? Nah. And some of the acting ones .. Lena Headey was great but they gave her nothing to work with here. I'm guessing it's a typical situation where they're rewarding it for the entire run of the show rather than the last season.

Game of thrones winning best drama?? Very surprising

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,611 ✭✭✭✭ERG89

    At least Chernobyl won awards.
Game of Thrones winning awards based on drama is honestly an insult to the other shows more than anyone as it was so badly thrown together towards the end it resembled one of those Sci Fi channel made for TV movies than an actual high end drama.

Bandersnatch I assume is another winner based on Black Mirror being popular as it wasn't particularly good either :/

the presenter bits were funnier then usual, award shows are better without hosts

although sometimes they stepped on the announcement

Fleabag is a BBC show why is Amazon getting the credit for it?

Amazed fleabag won so much awards, watched about 3 episodes of it - the greatest pile of absolute scutter i've ever watched.
Amazing , there's no accounting for taste.

Different tastes that's all. Fleabag is hilariously funny, doesn't mean it's everyone's cup of tea :D

I thought some of the presenters jokes fell flat

Thomas Lennon doing voice overs was enjoyable

I think it needs a host maybe Phoebe Waller-Bridge and Bill Hader next year :p
